Pre-Marc Program

Pre-MARC Trainees are potential future MARC Scholars who receive encouragement toward research careers through:

  • Access to various seminars and activities
  • On-campus research lab tours & laboratory rotations to gain exposure to the range of current research topics
  • Summer research opportunities
  • Presentations on biomedical research areas to help students identify their areas of interest
  • Leadership challenges
  • Workshops providing overviews of research methodology
  • Shadowing experience with graduate students
  • On-campus research expos

Pre-MARC Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have an interest in scientific research
  • Have an overall GPA of 2.80 or above
  • Attend UNCG full-time with a major related to the biomedical or behavioral sciences (such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Human Development & Family Studies, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Psychology, Public Health Education, Anthropology, or an approved Interdisciplinary Studies Major)

 

The Pre-MARC program is intended to be a stepping stone to the MARC U-STAR Fellowship program and your participation will fully prepare you to submit a competitive application.

  • GPA
  • Degree program and Major/Minor/Concentration
  • Short essay (200-500 words) of your professional goals, including aspirations for graduate study, and areas of research interests
